My client is looking for a CAD Technical Designer who has experience in 3D modelling using a variety of CAD packages: Catia, Solidworks, Solidedge, Inventor, Creo (Pro Engineer), Siemens NX and other 3D CAD packages are beneficial.

The CAD package which is currently being used is Siemens NX and training will be provided to upskill you in using the CAM element of the software, so that you are able to create CNC tooling paths for their 3 axis milling machines. This gives you an excellent opportunity to upskills your CAD and CAM capabilities.

This roles main focus is designing prototypes using their CAD/CAM software, these protorypes will be converted into an aluminium tool for mass production.

Primary Duties:

  • Design 3D thermoform parts or moulds for manufacture
  • Translation of brief into 3D CAD model using Siemens NX
  • Generation of CNC programs/routing/toolpaths for 3 axis milling of moulds
  • Development of conceptual design in cooperation with the Product Design Team
  • Compliance with all design manuals relating to the design and function of thermoform parts
  • Work in collaboration with key partners to create a specification of each part
  • Adherence to tight deadlines for design & machining work

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Time served supported by portfolio or Level 3 - AS, A Level or BTEC/Level 4 - Higher National Certificate
  • CAD/CAM software/packages: Catia, Solidworks, Solidedge, Inventor, Creo (Pro Engineer), Siemens NX and other 3D CAD packages are beneficial
  • CNC programming multiple axis milling machines
